SUMMARY

Inspired by René Magritte’s The Fair Captive series, Absurdity brings the wonderfully strange world of surrealism to the marching arts. Canvases on easels become part of the landscape itself, paradoxically depicting the very scene they block from view as the boundaries between art and reality begin to disappear. As the production unfolds, unexpected imagery and surrealist objects transform the field into a world where the impossible feels perfectly at home. And yes, that includes flaming tubas—complete, of course, with a tuba feature!
