Know No Bounds takes the traditional formula and “rules” of marching band show structure and, while not intended to be groundbreaking to the point of inaccessibility, plays with liberating itself from them. Rather than a first impact driven by power chords and soaring melodies, it’s a backbeat-driven, punching and staccato impact. The transition into the first arrival cleverly fades out rather than building up. What starts out as a seemingly traditional “ballad” is actually a rocking jazz-fusion tune. What would normally be an energetic, upbeat final section is one large and syncopated slow-build into a grandiose ending!
NOTE: Solo lines heard in the “80s retro synth” are meant to be assorted instrumental solos processed through vocoders.
